About GoldRateNow

GoldRateNow publishes live, indicative retail prices for gold, silver and platinum across India and 100+ cities, together with price history, charts and practical calculators for jewellery buyers, sellers and gold-loan borrowers. The site exists to answer one question quickly and honestly: what is the rate right now, and what does that mean for the transaction I'm about to make?

Where our prices come from

Our pipeline starts with international spot prices in Indian rupees, sourced from a licensed market-data provider. We convert troy ounces to grams, then apply a premium factor that reflects the import levies and typical market premium on bullion sold in India — calibrated periodically against published Indian benchmark rates. 22K and 18K prices are derived from 24K at the standard 916 and 750 purity factors, and city rates apply small local adjustments. The full method, including what it does not capture, is documented in our editorial policy.

How often rates update

Prices refresh every 10 minutes through the Indian trading day and hourly overnight. Every rate page shows the exact IST time of its last update, and a snapshot is stored daily to build the long-term history behind our charts and monthly tables.

What these rates are — and are not

Our rates are indicative market reference prices before GST and making charges — the same basis jewellers use for their board rates. The price you are quoted at a counter will differ by the shop's own premium, making charges and taxes. We publish reference data and educational content; we do not provide investment advice, we do not sell bullion, and we have no commercial relationship with any jeweller or lender mentioned on the site.

Corrections and contact

If a number looks wrong, we want to know. See the contact page for how to report an issue — data corrections are treated as the highest-priority work on this site.
